The J. Edwin Orr Revival Center
Joins the Nationwide Outreach
"MY HOPE with BILLY GRAHAM"
November 2013

Last Christmas, Franklin Graham wrote in the December 2012 issue of Decision with these words: "We may think of Missions as reaching countries abroad, but the truth is that our own country is now a mission field."

Our J. Edwin Orr Revival Center, since the Dedication on June 12, 2011, has been promoting prayers for revival through three major efforts:

       1. Personal Renewal;
       2. Congregational Transformation and
       3. Global Revival.

This year, we will join in the great program being promoted by Franklin Graham under the name: MY HOPE with BILLY GRAHAM. BGEA is preparing for a grass-roots nationwide outreach which will culminate with a powerful message from Billy Graham in November.

We want to encourage all Christians friends and churches to get involved now with this great movement and work together to make Christ known.

When You Pray, God Performs Miracles
By Dr. Paul Szeto
I am deeply grateful to be invited again by Ethel Whitson, Chair of Spiritual Life Committee at Royal Oaks and Bradbury Oaks, to attend the Annual National Day of Prayer on May 2. Great singing provided by Stuart Henderson with Eleanor Robinson at the piano. Several offered prayers for the nation; for the Administration/staff; for the military and for those in health care. I brought greetings on behalf of three groups: The Students at our Bethel Bible Institute in Thailand; The Seniors at the Home in Shanghai; and the children at the Orphanage in Macau. Many dear friends at Royal Oaks Manor have been praying for our global ministry for many years and I have seen their prayers had led to many miracles, especially in China.

Our own ECF Chair, Dr. Harold Lane, who also serves as the Chaplain at Royal Oaks, gave a moving message on Prayer is the Supply Line. He also led the large congregation in reciting the 2013 Prayer for our Nation written by Pastor Greg Laurie, Honorary Chairman of this year's National Day of Prayer. It was truly a heart warming experience because we were all touched by the Holy Spirit as we committed to seek God's will and power with this group of prayer warriors.

When we gathered for a simple lunch and learning about the wild fire burning near Camarillo all the way to Pacific Coast Highway, the words of Dr. J. Edwin Orr's hymn came to mind:

I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin; Fulfill Thy Word and make me pure within. Fill me with fire, where once I burned with shame; Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.

Also, my friend, Rev. Thomas Wang, after the March 26 parade in Washington D.C. with over 10,000 Christians on the all-important issue of the constitutionality of Proposition 8 and DOMA, has issued a call to all co-labors of churches, organizations and seminaries with these words:

"Realizing the seriousness of the matter, many of us are calling for every church, mission organization and seminary in America to fervently pray in April and May for God's mercy and guidance to the Supreme Court's decision in June."

I truly believe God's great Promise to His people recorded in II Chronicles 7:14:

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then, will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land."

Let's join our hearts in prayer and expect God's blessings.

New Chair in ECF German Board
The ECF German Board has just elected a new Chairperson to lead the growing ministry. Rev. Eva Ursula Krueger is the pastor of a church in Germany who really committed to God's world missions. Dr. Szeto has preached in her church with her translation into German. Please join us in prayer so that God can bless her leadership in expanding His work worldwide. All members of the Headquarters Board are deeply grateful for Rev. Gerd Pauschert who provided many years of faithful service as the Chair and he stays on as the Vice Chairman working together with the ECF Team.

For many years, in cooperation with ECF Board in Switzerland, a Germany language Newsletter has been published for supporters in both countries. As we plan to expand our ministry into Austria, seeking more supporters from Christian churches in that country, please pray for our ECF Missions Partners, asking God to give them greater vision and strength in expand God's outreach ministry through ECF.

God's Servants Equipped for Greater Challenge
Back in 2006 and 2007, ECF established two scholarship funds. One with Fuller Theological Seminary and the other with Azusa Pacific University. Looking back, God has truly blessed both programs with encouraging results.

Fuller Theological Seminary:

On April 23, Dr. Doug McConnell, Provost, hosted a luncheon for Dr. Szeto and Dr. Lane so that they can meet with some of the ECF Scholarship recipients. Dr. Richard Mouw also came to give his support for this partnership for equipping God's servants. Several professors gave their reports on their special research overseas. Four students shared their exciting experiences at Fuller. Scholarship recipients for the academic year of 2012 are:

              1. Prof. Bill Dyrness
              2. Liang Chen
              3. Viviana Paz Gonzalez
              4. Sebastian Lopez Boelken
              5. Nhyira Otabel
              6. Ayoung Alice Phang
              7. Leulseged Tesfaye

Azusa Pacific University:

The Paul & Dorcas Szeto International Scholarship established at APU in 2007 was a special plan by providing scholarships for equipping international leaders, especially those scholars from China, through the non-degree short-term Visiting Scholar Program. Over these last few years, a number of scholars from China had come and truly blessed by the Christian love and scholarship on the campus. For the year 2012, Dr. Mark Stanton, Provost, provided a large scholarship to Ms. Yong Hui Kim from Korea. In addition, the School of Business and the School of Nursing are both carrying on active exchange programs with Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. On April 20, Dr. Aya Lesh, Dean of School of Nursing, hosted a dinner for the three nursing scholars from China, together with Prof. H.Q. Wang, who came from Second Affiliated Hospital of this great university, to give her lecture at APU. Great friendship was developed and better programs will continue to improve.

Summer English Teaching in China
Due to the spreading of the H7N9 avian influenza in Hangzhou area, after a serious consideration and consultation with YWCA in Hangzhou, the Summer English Teaching Program in China this year has to be postponed. We thank you for all the prayers and support for this program.
